# Change master password

In order to change your password, you will need to remember the current password. 

You can't change the password if you forgot it. Check out [this article](https://docs.subwallet.app/main/extension-user-guide/account-security/manage-master-password/forgot-master-password) if you forgot your password.

**Step 1:** On the SubWallet homepage, click the "**Settings**" tab on the sidebar to get to the Settings section.

**Step 2**: In the Settings section, select "**Security settings**".

**Step 3**: Choose "**Change wallet password**".

**Step 4**: In the Change password screen, fill in the required information and tick "**I understand that SubWallet can't recover the password**".&#x20;

Once done, click "**Save**".

Make sure your master password is **well-kept**.

SubWallet is non-custodial, so you are the only person who knows your password; we can't help you restore it once it is lost.
